Charlene Carruthers | BYP 100

With every tragedy and injustice against black youth, one group has maintained a strong presence on the frontlines and in large numbers online. Knowledge, voice, and action are the three basic concepts of The Black Youth Project (BYP).

Charlene Carruthers, the young woman behind the #BYP100 movement told Ebony Magazine that, “Genuine engagement and concern are the most powerful tools you could have” in mobilizing today’s youth. As the National Director, Carruthers has over 10 years of leadership experience dealing specifically with youth leadership and racial justice.

“…When we say that #BlackLivesMatter, that is a political demand. It is a declaration.”
